Optimal decomposition and recombination of isostatic geometric constraint systems for designing layered materials

چکیده
Optimal recursive decomposition (or DR-planning) is crucial for analyzing, designing, solving or finding realizations of geometric constraint sytems. While the optimal DR-planning problem is NP-hard even for general 2D bar-joint constraint systems, we describe an O(n) algorithm for a broad class of constraint systems that are isostatic or underconstrained. The algorithm achieves optimality by using the new notion of a canonical DR-plan that also meets various desirable, previously studied criteria. In addition, we leverage recent results on Cayley configuration spaces to show that the indecomposable systems—that are solved at the nodes of the optimal DR-plan by recombining solutions to child systems—can be minimally modified to become decomposable and have a small DR-plan, leading to efficient realization algorithms. We show formal connections to well-known problems such as completion of underconstrained systems. Well suited to these methods are classes of constraint systems that can be used to efficiently model, design and analyze quasi-uniform (aperiodic) and self-similar, layered material structures. We formally illustrate by modeling silica bilayers as body-hyperpin systems and cross-linking microfibrils as pinned line-incidence systems. A software implementation of our algorithms and videos demonstrating the software are publicly available online.

Mathematical Model for Bi-objective Maximal Hub Covering Problem with Periodic Variations of Parameters
The problem of maximal hub covering as a challenging problem in operation research. Transportation programming seeks to find an optimal location of a set of hubs to reach maximum flow in a network. Since the main structure's parameters of the problem such as origin-destination flows, costs and travel time, change periodically in the real world applications, new issues arise in handling it. In t...
متن کاملDecomposition Plans for Geometric Constraint Systems, Part I: Performance Measures for CAD
A central issue in dealing with geometric constraint systems for CAD/CAM/CAE is the generation of an optimal decomposition plan that not only aids efficient solution, but also captures design intent and supports conceptual design. Though complex, this issue has evolved and crystallized over the past few years, permitting us to take the next important step: in this paper, we formalize, motivate ...
متن کاملh-graphs: A new representation for tree decompositions of graphs
In geometric constraint solving, well constrained geometric problems can be abstracted as Laman graphs. If the graph is tree decomposable, the constraint-based geometric problem can be solved by a Decomposition-Recombination planner based solver. In general decomposition and recombination steps can be completed only when other steps have already been completed. This fact naturally defines a hie...
متن کاملWaveform Design using Second Order Cone Programming in Radar Systems
Transmit waveform design is one of the most important problems in active sensing and communication systems. This problem, due to the complexity and non-convexity, has been always the main topic of many papers for the decades. However, still an optimal solution which guarantees a global minimum for this multi-variable optimization problem is not found. In this paper, we propose an attracting met...
متن کاملPresentation of quasi-linear piecewise selected models simultaneously with designing of bump-less optimal robust controller for nonlinear vibration control of composite plates
The idea of using quasi-linear piecewise models has been established on the decomposition of complicated nonlinear systems, simultaneously designing with local controllers. Since the proper performance and the final system close loop stability are vital in multi-model controllers designing, the main problem in multi-model controllers is the number of the local models and their position not payi...
